Renaming your Facebook page used to be quick, easy and straightforward. Not anymore.
Thanks to the recently discovered shady, election influencing practices of late, Facebook is taking extra care in scrutinising name changes and the data to support the change.
Here are some tips that may help your Facebook page renamed, without much fuss.
Check what Facebook Allows First
Despite what you want to rebrand your business, it doesn’t mean it’s within Facebook’s guidelines. Remember, it’s Facebook’s site and their rules. Your version of reality does not matter to them.
Check here what Facebook allows for page names.
Plan the whole change out
So you want to change the name of your business. What has to be done to do that?
1. Trading/business name registration
2. Website URL/domain
3. Business Listings e.g Google My Business
4. Other social pages: Twitter etc.
Have the above ready.
Think of Facebook last
Yes, think of Facebook last. Facebook will not change the name of your page without all the documentation to support it.
Make sure you have all of your documentation ducks in a row, before you request the change.
Be Patient and Have Support Ready to Go
It can take a long time. Think of you multiplied in the tens of thousands. Billions of daily users equals a lot of requests.
Facebook has it’s AI, I don’t know exactly what it’s used on but I have my suspicions that it’s the first gate of many request tasks.
Most of the time sometimes it doesn’t work first go. Sometimes you have to appeal. Sometimes you have to talk to a human.
Facebook Support has a plethora of information as well as chat support. Check it out here > Facebook Support
These are just a few things that after battling with them, i’d do next time. What have you done to successfully get your page renamed?
